About the Skilled Regional Migration Program

The Skilled Migration Program assists regional employers who are seeking to use skilled migration as a way of filling vacancies with experienced staff.
The Program delivers services to the Mid North, the Yorke Peninsula, and the Adelaide Plains regions.
Only employers with skilled positions which they can demonstrate cannot be filled through the local labour market are eligible.

The Program is managed by a Regional Migration Officer (RMO), who refers information and provides basic assistance to employers with skills shortages, to help them access migration programs and link with skilled migrants. The RMO cannot provide 'immigration assistance' (as defined by the Migration Act 1958).
The Program also seeks to attract migrants with high demand skills to the regions.
This service is provided FREE of charge. The program is fully funded by the South Australian Government.

Bring in ("sponsor") a skilled overseas worker
Employers are able to sponsor workers from overseas for skilled positions that cannot be filled through the local labour market. Sponsorship is for the purpose of the worker gaining a visa only, and does not require the employer to pay for the visa or relocation costs – such payments are at the employer’s discretion.
In making a decision to directly ‘sponsor’ a skilled migrant you might consider:
The expectations you have, and the expectations the migrant may bring with them.
How your workplace supports new employees.
The migrant’s personal circumstances ie will this person be bringing a family?
What support might they need when they arrive?

PERMANENT RESIDENCY VISA
Your business may be able to sponsor a skilled worker from overseas for permanent residence. This will require the migrant to remain with your business on a fulltime basis for two years.
