The Work to Work program offers assistance with:

  • Individual assessments and career counseling
  • Job support and personal development groups and workshops
  • Job hunting strategies and skills including how to tap into the hidden job market
  • Knowing the local job market and employment opportunities
  • Improving your networks with local employers and service providers
  • Free industry specific training in the industry of your choice
  • How to set goal and achieve them
  • Motivation, self esteem and communication skills
  • Support in gaining licenses, travel expenses and work related costs

Industry-Responsive Training

To ensure the Yorke region maintains a skilled workforce in response to industry expansion and economic growth the following training needs have been identified in consultations with representatives from the region’s 4 key industries.

Primary Industries

  • Rural Operations common core competencies
  • Business operations and IT skills
  • Licences e.g. forklift, truck, bobcat, and mechanical skills
  • Generic units e.g. OHS&W, Food Handling regulations
  • Specialist streams suited to Agriculture, Food Industry, Horticulture

Tourism/Hospitality/Retail

  • Customer service /knowing the local product/ after sales service
  • IT Training /Business operations
  • Front of house / restaurant & bar skills
  • Cert II Business Admin
  • Specific business skills, e.g. IT training

Manufacturing and Trades General

  • Pre-vocational skills and/or certificates for automotive, metal fabrication, electrical, building and construction industries
  • Specific short courses and skills upgrades necessary to maintain employment

Community Services

  • for the Aged Care, Child Care, Mental Health, Youth Work and Disability sectors
  • Community Services Certificate generic subjects e.g. Manual Handling, OHS, Mandated notification, medication administration, Senior First Aid and current police checking processes
  • Specialist streams/subjects suited to respective areas of Aged Care, Disability Care, Child Care (centre and home-based), Mental
  • Health and Youth Work
